Catch this in the mainstream media?

As IndyMedia reports, there was a bit of a protest in Washington, D.C. the weekend of April 20. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000 people (estimates of 75,000 to up to 200,000 involved in all of the weekend's protests) headed into the nation's capital, some demonstrating against all forms of war and terrorism, others chanting "free Palestine."

What? You didn't even hear about it? IndyMedia's Corporate Media Report Card addresses that. If you were wondering whether the mainstream media were biased, you can stop wondering now. The influence of corporate interests on corporate media suggests you might want to branch out a little when you're looking for your Daily News fix.

Then you can wonder why the media is dealing with Rep. Cynthia McKinney the way they are...

For more 'perspective' on Cynthia McKinney:

The government spends a heck of a lot investigating this, that, the other; yet if you call for an investigation into something with this kind of significance, you're grouped with the "nut cases."

The bottom line is that the generally accepted media of the day are inadequate. They are no longer able to provide objective reports to inform the populace since they are busy spinning the events of the day to cast all the important corporate interests in the proper positive light. With most of the major mainstream media owned by a handful of corporations, they're having an easy time swaying the opinions of millions.

I've read in other media that many journalists with integrity remaining are going solo, refusing to put up with editorial censorship. Let's hope that trend continues, and let's hope independent journalism can find the support it needs.

Think about what's happening. Wake up, wake up, wherever you are.
