The Question Equation

  1. Ask yourself the question
Do you understand the question? Is there enough information in the question for you to answer it
  2. Break it down
Take and consider each word individually
  3. Look for what you know
Something in the question makes sense, what is it? If not go back to step one
  4. Leverage (use) what you know
Find facts that are related to the question. Write them down. These are the keys to the answer
  5. Inspect your sources
Which of the available sources (Computer, Teacher, Peer, etc.. ) will have the best answer
  6. Use your sources
With your list of keys in hand go to the source and look for those keys.
  7. ANSWER THE QUESTION
